PART 8 - Kelland Frank Hutchence - by Patricia Glassop
MEMORIES OF KELL
by Patricia Glassop
I have many memories of Kell ... many wonderful times together ... so many mixed emotions and bittersweet memories.
Kell proposed to me almost an hour after we met. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend in December 1958 ... I met his mother and loved her, he met my daughter Tina and loved her. Needless to say, we married in January 1959 and Michael Kelland John Hutchence was born in January 1960. Rhett was born in 1962 ... and then there were three.
We had many years together seventeen in all ... and after we got over the strain of separation and divorce we were able to continue a good relationship.
That never faltered until we lost Michael when he took his life in a Sydney Hotel room in 1997. What should have been a time of togetherness, turned into a tabloid nightmare. Sadly these incidences were brought about by certain people and because of the tabloids it raced out of control.
Our relationship and what remained of our little family we had been disintegrated. This should never have happened.
When Kell was ill he ‘phoned me and we spoke about the incredible life Michael had, the times we spent in his beautiful Villa in the South Of France with all of the family and some friends together, the Christmas in our home in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, the INXS concerts ... our friends, family and his recent visit to Bali to bond with Tigerlily so she would have some memories of her grandfather before he died.
We shed a few tears together and he said he could now go more peacefully now that we had been able to close the door on what had happened since we lost Michael. We had a couple of calls to each other, though it was difficult for him to speak. We said, "I Love You" and "I'm sorry" ... those were our last words together.
We were married in a little church in Lane Cove Sydney - the same church Michael was christened in.
On Tuesday 17th December 2002 ... I will say a fond and final farewell to Kell in that same church in Lane Cove Sydney.
